About Edith Szendrey

Music educator, choral and orchestral conductor,

violin, viola and piano teacher

 

 

Canadian born violinist and violist Edith Szendrey founded the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival Junior Strings Program in 2013, the SD Festival Junior Program with Chee Yun Kim and friends in 2017 and was on faculty at the Pacific Music Institute, summer music festival in Honolulu to the delight of many young students, parents and audiences alike. Of Hungarian roots, she holds a Bachelors degree in Music from the University of British Columbia.  A sought-after pedagogue, Edith is currently teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Edith is an experienced and versatile musician who has performed in many chamber music concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Choral Society and the Arlekin String Quartet. She has worked with many local symphonies including the Marin Symphony, Berkeley Symphony and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. She has performed and recorded with many amazing artists including Chee Yun Kim, Barbra Streisand, Diana Krall, and Wayne Wallace.

Edith Szendrey performs and records regularly with many of the Bay Areas finest musicians, and is pleased to provide string quartets, Trios and Duos for weddings and other special events in the Bay Area. With over 20 years of experience she prides herself in offering the lowest prices for the highest quality service.  Together with Eugene Chukhlov (sfstrings.com) she has had the pleasure of arranging music for thousands of brides, grooms and happy anniversary couples, and is well known by many venues including the Kenwood Inn, Wente Vineyards and Trentadue Winery.
